Dr. Aakash Shingada

Dr Aakash K Shingada is a Consultant Nephrologist and Transplant Physician with more than 6 yrs experience in the field. He is the founder Director and Partner of Kidney Associates Pvt Ltd – a group of private practicing nephrologists in North Mumbai.  

He has graduated from the prestigious Seth GS Medical College & KEM hospital, Mumbai and was trained in Nephrology at the Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in New Delhi, well known for its voluminous Nephrology and Kidney Transplant services. He has received Specialty Certification (SCE) in Nephrology from the United Kingdom.  

He has earned several accolades during his training and career, including 3rd prize in a national nephrology competition (TYSA Nephrology 2019), selection to International Society of Nephrology Education team and has several national and international publications and presentations. He serves on the editorial board of several international journals, including the highly respected CJASN, AJN, Nephron & Kidney International Reports. Dr. Aakash Shingada has a hunger to strive and be the best in the field. He is described by his colleagues and teachers as being ‘passionate and driven’ towards good quality patient care. He strongly believes in ethical practice and providing quality care at a reasonable price. Dr. Aakash Shingada is a prolific speaker and loves language and literature. Experience

Experience in Kidney transplant:

  • Trained from an institute performing the most number of transplants per year in the private sector (> 250 transplants per year) 
  • Assisted and observed laparoscopic / open / robotic kidney transplant surgeries 
  • Helped manage > 500 transplant patients (routine preoperative, intraoperative and post operative care alongwith management of short and long term complications) Success rate of Transplants was > 95%. 
  • Experienced in desensitization protocols for transplants across ABO blood groups and HLA crossmatch positive patients 

 

Experience in Nephrology and Dialysis: 

  • Skilled in providing Hemodialysis, hemodiafiltration, Plasmapharesis, Hemofiltration, CRRT, Hemoperfusion. Trained at a centre providing > 2000 sessions of hemodiafiltration per month. 
  • Trained and experienced in managing patients on CAPD (routine and complications) 
  • Managed Critical care nephrology patients (post cardiac surgery, sepsis, post pregnancy and trauma) with experience in Acute CRRT and Acute Peritoneal Dialysis 
  • Interventional nephrology – 
  • Inserted more than 750 temporary dialysis catheters over a period of 3 years with training in inserting permanent catheters 
  • Created more than 100 AV fistulas over a period of 2 years 
  • Performed more than 100 kidney biopsies (both native and transplant)  

 

Clinical Experience :

  • Worked as a Junior Intensivist with management of surgical as well medical critically ill patients at Breach Candy Hospital – (2015-2016) 
  • Worked as a Resident doctor in the Cardiac ICU under Dr Jagdish Parikh at S.R. Mehta Cardiac Institute, Sion, Mumbai (2011-12) 

 

Education and training

  • Schooling from J.B. Khot high School, Borivali. Scored 91% marks in the SSC exam and scored highest marks in the state in subjects of Mathematics and Science 
  • Secured admission in the prestigious D. G. Ruparel College of Science, Arts and Commerce, Matunga and Scored 90% marks in the HSC exam and stood 14th in the State Medical Entrance (> 45000 students appeared for this exam). 
  • Studied MBBS from the Seth G. S. Medical College and K.E.M Hospital, Mumbai (2005-2011) 
  • Trained in General Medicine (DNB) at the famous Breach Candy Hospital under the guidance of world-renowned Dr. Farokh Erach Udwadia and Dr Behram Pardiwalla. (2012-2015) 
  • Secured 7th Rank in the All India DNB superspeciality entrance test and secured admission at the Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi and finished training in nephrology from 2016-2019. Managed more than 700 kidney transplant patients during these 3 years.
